BREWERY TOURS

BREWER FOR A DAY EXPERIENCE

Learn the art of brewing some of the finest beers for the day.

The Experience

Your brew day will start early with ‘Mashing in the grist’ (mixing malted barley with hot liquor) and will progress through running off the sweet wort after the mash has undergone conversion.

The sweet wort is then transferred into the copper and the hops added to the boil. You may help dig out the mash, which is emptying the mash tun of the now spent grain. You will then add copper finings to the boil toward the end and witness the copper coming to rest.

Once the copper is switched off the unfermented wort will be transferred through the paraflow and into the freshly sterilised fermenting vessel (F.V) where you will pitch the yeast to begin the ferment.

The Details

The Brewer for a day’ experience is for up to 2 people at a time at the brewery, Common Road, Great Wakering.

MICRO-BREWERY TOUR

Learn the art of brewing some of the finest beers for the day.

The Experience

George’s brewery are happy to show parties of 12 people or more around their rather small brewery setup since 2009 in some old cattle barns in Great Wakering, Essex.

The cold room is open throughout the tour for you to help yourself for tastings and samplings.

There is no seating at the brewery as it is a manufacturing outlet but you are free to bring your own collapsible/fold away chairs for your personal comfort.

If the weather is good it does make a rather nice experience to sit outside the brewery and look out across the farmland with a beer in your hand.

There is a single toilet on site for your use. A coffee machine and kettle are part of the brewery’s tools so if you are driving we can keep you in hot drinks.

There is the option of moving on to the comfort of the local micro-pub after your tour to sample more beer including a range from George’s and Hopmonster.

The pub seats 50 people and is approximately 4 miles from the brewery at 781 Southchurch Road, Southend-on-Sea so you will need your own transport. Let the brewery know at the time of booking and they will arrange this as part of your experience.
